Buffalo, NY-based metalcore band Every Time I Die headlined their 2-day “‘Tid the Season” festival at Buffalo Riverworks on December 9 and 10, 2021.
The festival, which sold out the 6,000-capacity venue on both days, included a variety of acts hand-selected by Every Time I Die themselves. Among the performers were the legendary ’90s rapper Ice-T, hardcore heroes Knocked Loose, fan-favorite Spiritbox, and plenty of other heavy-hitters, including Kublai Khan TX, Buried Alive, The Bronx, END, and more. A crazy wind storm didn’t stop people from coming out both locally, regionally, nationally, and even internationally. People travel from as far as overseas around the Holidays to attend what ETID fans refer to lovingly as “Shitmas” every year. The event started out at smaller venues but it has grown to be a weekend-long party that has consistently sold out and grown to break records each December that the band plays.
Overall, the festival seems to be well received. There are rumors that this is one of Every Time I Die’s last shows after ETID vocalist Keith Buckley revealed on Twitter that his brother Jordan Buckley was secretly plotting to kick him out of the band. This caused the band to cancel the last 3 shows remaining on their last tour so that Keith could put his mental health first. At ‘Tid the Season, the band’s stage presence was intense yet positive. Luckily, there were no Oasis-style fights between the two brothers. Keith didn’t say a word about it either night that Every Time I Die performed, and instead kept his focus on thanking the crowd for attending and thanking the bands for playing.
It’s unclear what the future has in store for this band, but as of now, ETID is set to tour in 2022 with Underoath and Spiritbox to support their ninth studio album, Radical, the first to feature drummer Clayton “Goose” Holyoak.
