Jesus Piece Live at California Brew Haus

Jesus Piece is a hardcore band from Philadelphia, PA. The band burst into the Philly hardcore scene a few years ago in 2015 with their self-titled EP and have only gone up from there. Playing one of the most well-known hardcore music festivals, This Is Hardcore Fest, nearly every year since they became a band, gave Jesus Piece vast popularity in the heavy music scene. They became even bigger this year with the release of their debut LP, Only Self.

How They Sound

With 3 EPs and now a full length under their belt, Jesus Piece seems to only improve over time. They began to make a name for themselves with their nu-metal-esque heavy hardcore.

From Then to Now

In 2016, Jesus Piece released a 3-song promo tape to follow up their self-titled from the previous year. The Philly hardcore band was asked to play the famous hardcore festival This Is Hardcore Fest which originated in Philadelphia in 2005. This created a stage for exposure for up-and-coming bands, where Jesus Piece gained a great amount of exposure just from participating.

As 2017 rolled around, the band was yet again asked to play the festival and amassed an even larger following during their set and seeing videos posted from their set. When the band plays, there’s nothing but raw energy and emotion coursing through heavy instrumentals and passionate vocals being screamed in your face. This same year, Jesus Piece released a split EP with past fest brethren Malice at The Palace.

As This Is Hardcore Fest has just recently come and gone, Jesus Piece again participated while promoting the release of their first LP, Only Self. As you’d expect from Jesus Piece, this album has done nothing but improve upon the already hard-hitting music that fans of the band have become accustomed to. Only Self is a love letter of sorts to metalcore 90’s bands like Converge and Disembodied. The erratic but heavy-hitting vocals and instrumentals ring through the album as is expected, but overall, this is their finest work to date.
